Edmond Home Inspection: Keeping your lawn green
The first part of a home that is seen by someone like myself, while completing an Edmond home inspection, is the front yard. If the purpose of having an Edmond home inspection completed is to sell your home, then you certainly want to show some respect to the landscaping. Your yard is the curb appeal, after all. It’s easy to have a healthier looking lawn in the spring, when rain water is in abundance, but it may not be so easy in the warmer months of summer. Here are a few healthy lawn tips to keep your lawn looking green this summer.
Edmond home inspection tip #1: Try to avoid walking on your grass so you don’t cause breakage and “stress” to it. Another cause of stress to grass is weeds and bugs so make sure you’re handling that by either hiring a company to spray for you or purchasing materials on your own.
Edmond home inspection tip #2: Don’t cut your grass too short just to “save you time in between mows.” That line of thinking will only leave you with scalped grass on the verge of losing it’s ability to cope with drought. Not only that, but it also opens up more possibilities for weeds and other stresses to creep in. As a good rule don’t mow off more than 1/3 the grass’s height.
Edmond home inspection tip #3: Look anywhere regarding lawns in the summer and you will find that the recommended watering time is early in the morning to avoid increased evaporating (which happens in the heat of the afternoon). Of course, you don’t want to over water your grass either so keep it to about 1 inch per week to be safe. Even more important, only keep to that measurement when it hasn’t rained.
I hope that you have found these tips helpful and that you are able to keep a green lawn this summer. Taking some time to take care of your grass will ensure that your yard looks freshly green all summer long.
